Dream
Sports
Center
on Saturday afternoon. With the Stingers relocating to
Williamsburg
, the only remaining traces of the old Stingers were Ryan Smith and Goaltender Josh Noullet. The Assault coming off a couple losses were looking to redeem themselves and had their entire arsenal in the lineup ready to do so. This was the 1 st time that this has happened for the Assault which have been plagued by injuries, suspensions, and prior obligations all year long. The day looked to be quite interesting for both sides.
Game one opened up quickly as Chris Street scored just 14 seconds into the game sliding the puck five-hole after receiving a breakaway pass from Alex Westin. Street scored again 35 seconds later on a great through pass from David Howard giving the Assault a 2-0 lead in just the first minute of play. This ended up being the trend of the game as the offense continued to flow for the Assault, the final buzzer sounded with home team winning 10-1. The Assault scoring was led by Chris Street (3g,4a), Alex Westin (2g,4a), and Jason Eagan (3g,0a).
Game two would be another offensive game for the Assault and another learning experience for the new Stingers. The Assault would outshoot the Stingers 37-24 and win the game by a final of 9-3 giving goaltender David Levinson his 7 th win of the season. The top scorers for the Assault were Jason
Eagan
(2g,2a), Chris Street (1g,3a), and Brian Moore (1g,3a).
The day was a good one for the Assault as they regained 2 nd place in the PIHA Southeast Division with the wins. The Easter Bunny, Eric Cole of the Carolina Hurricanes, and the NC State Wolfpack mascot were all present at the
Dream
Sports
Center
on Saturday as the facility hosted both the PIHA Assault games as well as Iron Cam II, a charity Iron Man tournament for a local youth player who was paralyzed in a skiing accident. It was a great weekend for Inline Hockey in the
Raleigh
area. |
