Scoring leaders Yingling and Yoder look to melt the Blizzard this Friday
Colorado Springs, Colo. The Colorado Springs Thunder will be proud to host Police and Firefighter Night at the Tour Arena on Friday, with proceeds from the evening supporting the Ethan Orth Fund. The evening will feature hockey pro action between the Colorado Springs Thunder and the Denver Blizzard, and minor games between the Front Range Thunder and the Lowry Landslide. In addition to the games, members of the local police and fire departments will be on hand, and the first-ever Police and Firefighter Olympics will take place between games. The Ethan Orth Fund will receive a portion of every ticket sold, the Chuck-a-Puck proceeds, as well as money raised from a raffle. Ethan Orth has been a member of the Colorado Springs inline community for more than 10 years. Last fall he was diagnosed with bone cancer in his left leg, and is currently undergoing treatment in Denver. The entire Thunder organization asks for everyone’s help in supporting this great cause tomorrow night at Tour Arena. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the door.

The Rocky Mountain Division-leading Colorado Springs Thunder enter Friday’s games with one of the best records in all of PIHA and on a 10-game winning streak. The Blizzard currently sit in third place in the RMD, and are coming off a long break, last splitting a series with the Ft. Collins Catz on December 20.  The Thunder’s Brian Yingling leads all scorers in the league with 46 points (20-26) in 14 games, and is followed closely in second by C.J. Yoder with 43 points (23-20) in 14 games. Yingling also leads the league in assists (26), while Yoder is tops in the league in goals (23) and game-winning goals (5). The Blizzard look to counter the Thunder offense with their own top scorer, Craig Crow, who has notched 17 points (9-8) in 11 games. Thunder goaltenders Dan Lamb and James Risenhoover have been defensive stalwarts, posting 7-0-0 and 6-1-0 records, respectively. Lamb also leads the league in save percentage (.880) and goals-against average (1.81).

The Front Range Thunder look to rebound from a two game losing streak Friday against the Lowry Landslide. Front Range is currently fifth of 10 teams in the RMD, while the Landslide rank ninth in the division. Tyler Smith and Josh Brunson lead the Thunder with 12 points (10-2) and 10 points (4-6), respectively, while Alex Paine (7-7—14) and T.J. Wall (4-8—12) pace the Landslide.

Tickets are still available at the door. Price is only $7 for all four games.
