Thunder in "6"

After jumping out to a 3-0 series lead, the Colorado Springs Thunder needed six games to win the 2009 PIHA Founders Cup. The Connecticut Blaze started slow on Friday losing Game 1, 5-1 and Game 2, 6-3. In Game 1 the Thunder was lead by the 2 goal 1 assist offense of CJ Yoder and the superb goaltending of Dan Lamb. The score was tied 2-2 at halftime of Game 2, but the second half was all Thunder. Brian Yingling (2 goals and 1 assist), and Ryan Pedersen (1 goal and 2 assists), lead the Thunder to a 2-0 series lead at the conclusion of play on Friday night.

Colorado Springs Thunder 2008-09 PIHA Champions

Thunder Wrap Up Series in Six Games

St. Louis, MO – Behind Playoff MVP CJ Yoder, the Thunder became the 2008-09 PIHA Champions, defeating the Connecticut Blaze in 6 games on Sunday. The Blaze took the first game of the day 3-1, but the Thunder found their legs in the second game Sunday with a 7-4 victory to claim their first Founders Cup.

Saturday Night Split

Thunder Lead Series Three Games to One

After a tough Friday night for the Connecticut Blaze, the Eastern Conference Champions played very well on Saturday and jumped on John Pinhiero's back to pull out a game #4 win. Game three was another Thunder win 5-2 behind an all around team effort. Eric Bogenrief had a goal and an two assists and took first star honors as the Thunder looked for a sweep.

Colorado Springs Thunder Win Two

St. Louis, MO - The Colorado Springs Thunder took a strangle hold on the Founders Cup Finals last night by taking the first two games in the best of seven series. Behind their big first line and a strong night by goaltender Dan Lamb, the Western Conference Champions go into tonight’s games three and four in good position for their first Founders Cup.
