The Colorado Stallions are on a tear early in this 2016 season and after this weekend they’ve proven they can beat anyone. With only 4 teams out west all rosters are loaded with talent and should make for some spectacular hockey in Colorado. The Stallions, in two weeks, may have shown that they are the team to beat.
Colorado made the trip to Colorado Springs to take on the Parker Prowlers in a matinee series and then the newly formed, CS Vikings in a night cap. They would take a game from each and find themselves looking down at the rest of the field.
The Stallions came out gangbusters as they took game 1 from the Prowlers (5-3) as rookie, Mike Muhs buried 2 goals in the win. Game 2 was a different story as the Prowlers looked like themselves and jumped out to a 4-0 lead early and never looked back. Game 2 final, 7-3 with Joey Dolce leading the way with a hatrick.
A new look Vikings squad was next and not much was known about the blue and grey team except they were looking to prove something. Game 1 was a back and forth battle that took extra time to decide. With only :09 left in the first OT, the Vikings took advantage of a 2 on 1 as Mark Ottenberg scored his first Pro goal to get the new team in the win column with a 3-2 victory. Game two was also a close one but the Stallions sucked it up in their fourth game of the day and pulled out a 4-2 win and walked away with 7 points on the day.
The Stallions will be off this coming weekend but back at it on October 1st against the Vikings at 3pm MST.
