The 2016 Jr PIHA season will be the leagues best showing as 26 teams from all over the state of Colorado will battle it out to be crowned champions. Players from 5yr to 16yr will participate in 5 divisions as the teams play 24 total games plus playoffs. The organizations represented this season are the Blizzard, Fire, Prowlers, Stallions and Thunder.
After the dust settled on the first two weeks of games it looks like all divisions should be highly competitive and fun to watch throughout the season. The 8u division (4 teams) have the Prowlers and Blizzard on top as they went undefeated to 4-0 in their first week. In the10u division (5 teams) you can find those same two teams at the top as the Prowlers and Blizzard Orange are 4-0. 12 and unders were split into two divisions (Major – 6 teams / Minor – 4 teams) and proved to be some of the best hockey played. Thunder and Prowlers Grey are looking down amongst the rest in the Major division, while the Thunder Minor squad is heading the pack in a big way in their division. And as the 15u division (7 teams) gets even more skilled as the league grows, it’s the Fire organization emerging on top as both the Fire Red and Fire Grey teams only dropped one game to start with a 3-1 record.
Overall everyone involved with the teams, players and PIHA Organization are tremendously excited about the 2016 season. With this many kids playing at these levels, the Pro games should keep getting better and better moving forward.
