The Colorado Springs Thunder organization will again outdo itself as the organization looks to raise money during their Charity Jersey Auction. Difference this season…. There’s two teams, two different jerseys, and two series of hockey with huge playoff implications.
The expansion Vikings team is in a heated battle for the third and final spot in the Rocky Mountain Division playoffs while the Thunder are trying to clinch the first round bye. Both teams will play on Saturday, December 17th and both will be sporting custom, Christmas themed, jerseys!
Colorado Springs fans will have their first chance at these jerseys at 3pm on Saturday as the Vikings look to raise money for the Bob Greene Memorial Foundation. Vikings coach, Mike Greene, along with brothers Rick and Bob have established the foundation to carry on Bob’s mission. The funds from this event will serve as an emergency find to help a family pay fees when a sudden event currently and adversely effects a family’s financial situation making it difficult for them to pay fees owed to CSAHA. The Greene family is revered throughout the Colorado Springs community for their dedication to the sport of hockey in the area and their commitment to help, whenever possible, our youth within this great game.
The Thunder squad will take the floor at 715pm sporting one-of-a-kind jerseys in hopes that they also, can help out a great cause. Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation is an organization of hockey players dedicated to helping hockey families in crisis due to catastrophic injury or illness. The organization has raised over $1,200,000 and even more importantly, positively impacted the lives of many. The organization was established in 2011 and has become a spectacular resource for families in need.
All of this could not be done without the tremendous support by the Colorado Springs community. The Thunder would like to send a huge thank you out to Freedom Honda for purchasing the Thunder and Vikings uniforms and events. With the help of Freedom Honda all proceeds will be donated to these foundations.
