The 2017-2018 season will begin early for the Colorado Springs Organization as the team announced their July 23rd tryout date for this coming season. “There’s a lot going on here in the Springs and dynamics are changing. We wanted to get things started early and get teams set and make sure our players are in the best opportunity to succeed this year. With the Vikings becoming a great addition to our organization and things planning to grow again this year, we wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page,” says organization General Manager, Dave Needham.
The Thunder plan on representing in full again this season, tryouts should produce 2 Pro and 2 Semipro teams. The Vikings will be back and obviously the Thunder will have a team to contend. Even with the growth of the organization the team will need to find a new home as the landscape for inline hockey has changed in Colorado Springs. “We feel a bit out of the loop. The families, players, volunteers, coaching staff, have all put so much time into this organization and building the game here. It’s just a shame, the Arena will be missed,” says Captain, CJ Yoder. “Obviously things change, and we understand there are different dynamics to every situation. We are looking forward to a new era and still producing on and off the floor.”
The Thunder and Vikings will play this year’s home games out of Foothills Field House (formerly RMR). Games will begin in September with the Finals still not set by the league office.
